Medallion
The Medallion concerns the somewhat less than serious machinations of a sex-obsessed college professor who initiates adoring coeds into the hermetic cult of Pan. Hypnotizing his acolytes with a groovy magic medallion, the swinging prof soon collects a legion of longhaired cuties to cater to his every whim (toe sucking definitely included). Once the girls have given themselves over to these occult ecstasies, they invite a troop of college jocks to join in on their extra-curricular investigations as well. The usual combination of couplings ensues, resulting in (you guessed it!) the prerequisite group bacchanal at the end.
While the film’s obviously contrived credits are not worth rehearsing, writer/director “Frank Miller” has assembled a better than average cast to keep his little gnostic farce from falling too flat. Especially noteworthy is the unnamed actress featured as “Miss Smith” (a bouncy Shelly Fabares-type for those of you shiftless enough to still remember your Elvis movies). The actor playing the professor is spookily like the real thing: an arrogant little weenie self-absorbed with his own prowess. A garden-variety storefront feature from the heyday of L. A. one-day-wonders, The Medallion gets passing grades for silly sexual hi-jinx and better than average marks for swinging Seventies sexpots.
